Amsterdam's icon starts much needed crowdfunding
The Catboat
The Catboat takes in 200-250 cats per year. Stray cats, foundlings, not wanted and dumped cats who need our help and shelter so badly. They are cared for, vaccinated, chipped and neutered (cat/tomcat) and receive the necessary care in case of illness and injury. The Catboat will then find a loving and suitable home for them. Thousands of cats have already been taken care of and given a new future.

Why a new boat

In the last century, boats like the Catboat were apparently not built so sustainably and future-proof.
Our Catboat has been moored in the Singel in Amsterdam for almost 45 years now and squeaks and creaks on all sides. Old age comes with more and more defects and the refurbishment no longer helps. Also due to serious wear and tear on the foundation of the boat, we had only one option, namely to replace the current worn boat with a new one.
Great idea but a new boat costs a lot of money. The basics are there, but we still need a lot of money.
That is why we are setting up this crowdfunding campaign and asking for the financial help of every cat lover.

What kind of new boat will it be?

A very beautiful one! That’s the plan anyway.
Architect A. Surink has been of great value in this. Construction has already started as you can see in the pictures.
The comfort of the cats is always the most important thing for us.
The new boat will be energy efficient, will have super insulation and will generate its own energy by means of solar panels. In addition, we get an automatic air conditioning system so that the temperature is always stable and pleasant whether it is freezing cold or very hot outside. And….. more light, air and space will be provided for all our cats on the new boat. It will make the cats very happy.

Yes, I'd love to help too!
Since 1968, we have been working day and night to catch cats, help them and give them a new loving home. Now the Poezenboot itself desperately needs a new home to continue helping all cats in need. And we need all your help with that!
And we hope that many people will help to make the New Catboat great.
You can also help distribute our posters through social media, the Internet, influencers and paste them everywhere you can. You can download the pdf here.
